Text Box: Message from the President
Hello Everyone
We had a great turn out for our Feb. meeting with several new members. Martha Reed, her husband and Tom Warren gave instruction on CPR. It is good to know in case one of us ever need it while out on a trail. I want to thank them for a great training and also thank the members who took part in both trainings.
Since we had our CPR training we held a short meeting. I will let Karen’s notes fill everyone in on what was discussed. Karen was gracious enough to fill in for Bonnie and take notes for us.
Welcome new members and returning members, we are ready to kick off a fun filled riding season.
Bob O.

Old Business:

April ride and meeting scheduled for 4/26/08 & 4/2708 has a committee and they are in the progress of making the plans for this event.

New Business:

Vince suggested that the group might want to make a donation toward the repair of the angel memorial that was vandalized at Hosak’s Cave.  Bob Oakley stated that all of the money need to pay for the repairs has already been raised in full.  No other donations are needed at this time.

Easter Egg Ride/Hunt

Due to the fact that Easter is early this year on 3/23/08 a discussion occurred about when to have the annual Easter Egg Ridge/Hunt.  A motion to combine the Easter Egg Ride/Hunt with the April ride & work weekend was made by Jim Steward and seconded by Donna Cimons.  Motion carried.

Patches for Mileage

The cost of patches or pins was discussed for anyone turning in a mileage form for the calendar year 2006.  Bob Oakley stated that anyone who turned in a mileage form for 2006 could receive a pin, should they want one.  Please contact Bob Oakley directly if you wish to have an OHC pin for 2006.

Water Pump & Hydrant

Bob Oakley discussed the new water line that is coming into Salt Fork with Hal Harper.  And Hal informed Bob that the new line would not be able to increase the pressure in the horse camp.

To increase the pressure, a booster pump is necessary.  That is the only way we can add more hydrants in the horse camp.  They want us to buy a pump and a hydrant.  It was stated that we have in the past purchased two hydrants.  The question remains if we (OHC) purchase the pump and hydrant, who will install them?  Bob will discuss this issue further with Hal on price and installation.

Mounting Block Donated

Tana has donated a mounting block.

Southeast Regional Representative

The Southeast Regional Representative job will be open.  Troy Lindimore will not run for reelection.  Bob asked the group if anyone was interested in running for this position.  No one was interest

Equine Affair

The annual Equine Affair at the State Fairgrounds will be held April 10-13, 2008.  OHC has a booth and is in need of volunteers to work this event.

New Members

New members to the Gue Co OHC introduced themselves to the group.  They were warmly welcomed.  They included:

Lynn & Donna Wheeler

Ruth Golay

Jim & Nancy Kincell

James & Lori Cass

Sandy Himelrigh

Jamie & Rose Rowson

Corral Open for Use

Chet Gray mentioned to the group that he has a 130 x 265 corral at his place, and would like to invite the group to look at the possibility of hosting a Horse Show or a Fun Show.  There is electric available but no bleachers.  You would need to bring your own chairs.  It was discussed and the group thought that summer time would be a good option.  Possibly even have a Horse Clinic at his location.  No plans were made at this time.
